46 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 24, 2021 (BSS)–Forty-six more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate is showing a rising trend again during the last six consecutive days.

“The 46 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at the two Covid-19 Laboratories at the infection rate of 12.23 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 46 new patients diagnosed today, 19 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 19 new patients include 11 from Rangpur, three from Lalmonirhat, two each from Gaibandha and Kurigram and one from Dinajpur districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7 pm.

On the other hand, 27 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“All of the 27 newly infected Covid-19 patients are hailing from different areas in Dinajpur district alone,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients reached 18,684 as 46 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 18,684 patients currently stands at 4,908 in Rangpur, 837 in Panchagarh, 1,566 in Nilphamari, 1,067 in Lalmonirhat, 1,201 in Kurigram, 1,659 in Thakurgaon, 5,698 in Dinajpur and 1,748 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
