38,890 patients recover from coronavirus in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, May 23, 2021 (BSS) – The total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 38,890 in the district with the healing of 136 more people in the last 24 hours.

“The recovered patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutives real- time PCR tests were found negative,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said today.

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 52,524 amid the frequent rising trend in the daily infection rate in recent days only in the district, he said.

Among the total 52,524 coronavirus infected persons, 41,974 are the residents of the port city and the rest 10,550 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

Meanwhile, a total of 80 people were tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 636 samples at eight COVID-19 laboratories in the district. The infection rate is 12.58 percent.

Among the newly detected patients, 67 are from Chattogram city and 13 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

A total of 5529 infected patients were also undergoing treatment in designated hospitals in the port city, sources said.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that the death toll from the virus rose to 594 with one fatality reported afresh in the last 24 hours.

Among the reported fatalities, 433 were the residents of the port city and the rest 161 were from different upazilas of the district.

The health official mentioned that the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to remain health rules so that the virus cannot spread further.
