Trains resume operation tomorrow
DJHAKA, May 23, 2021 (BSS)-Intercity and local trains will resume operations from tomorrow as the government has allowed operation of all public transports at half capacity across the country.
“A total of 28-pair intercity trains (up and down) and 18 local trains will resume operation from tomorrow maintaining the health protocol,” said Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan.
He came up with information at Rail Bhaban here today. The railways ministry suspended the train services across the country on April 5 as the government imposed restriction on movement of all public transports to stop spread of Covid-19 in the country.
“Wearing mask is must for all passengers,” he said.
The intercity trains are Subarna Express, Mahanagar Godhuli/Turna, Mahanagar Probhati/Turna, Teesta Express, Jamuna Express, Kishoreganj Express, Mohanganj Express, Upakul Express, Parabat Express, Joyantika/Upaban Express, Meghna Express, Bijoy Express, Paharika/Udayan Express, Ekota Express, Drutajan Express, Banalata Express, Padma Express, Sundarbans Express, Chitra Express, Rangpur Express, Lalmoni Express, Nilsagar Express, Rupsa Express, Madhumati Express, Titumir Express, Sagardari Express, Dhalarchar Express and Tongipara Express.
Tickets for intercity trains will only be available online.
The 9-pair local trains are Karnophuli Commuter, Sagorika Commuter, Balaka Commuter, Jamalpur Commuter, Dhaka Commuter, Rocket Mail, Mahananda Express, Padmarag Commuter and Uttara Express.
The government today extended the ongoing countrywide restrictions on movement and public transports till May 30 to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection.
