JAMALPUR, May 23, 2021 (BSS)- A total of 1,23,148 people have got old-age allowance under the social safety net programme in the district this year.
Among the beneficiaries, 41,886 additional people got the allowance here during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, according to the Social Service Department Office.
With the rising trend, the total number of beneficiaries in Jamalpur sadar upazila now rose to 27,096 under the programme.
Beside 3,698 people in Jamalpur municipality area, 14,228 people in Madarganj upazila, 17,947 people in Melandah, 16,654 people in Islampur, 18,730 people in Sarishabari, 13,058 people in Dewanganj and 11,737 people in Bakshiganj came under the social safety net programme.
Deputy Director of Social Service Department Raju Ahmed said each of the beneficiaries get Taka 500 per month as old-age allowance.
