CHAPAINAWABGANJ, May 23, 2021 (BSS)- Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in two separate drives arrested three alleged smugglers with 1,95,000 pieces of Indian cigarette and 183 bottles of contraband Indian phensidyl this morning.
The arrested were identified as Md. Palash, 24, and Md. Dabir Hasan, 35, both of Gopalpur village under Shibganj upazila and Md. Sohel Rana, 28,of Khasalpara village under Gomostapur upazila in the district.
Acting on a tip-off, an operation team of the RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp conducted a raid in Purba Ranibari Chandpur village under Chakkirti union in Shibganj upazila of the district around 4.40 am and nabbed Palash and Dabir with 1,95,000 pieces of Indian cigarette, RAB sources said.
In another drive, an additional team of the RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp raided Baghitala Chowrasta intersection area under Kansat union of Shibganj upazila in the district at 6.20 am and arrested Sohel Rana with 183 bottles of phensidyl.
Later, the arrested persons were handed over to shibganj thana police with concerned cases, the sources added.
