29 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 22, 2021 (BSS) – Twenty-nine more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate is showing a rising trend again during the last five consecutive days.

“The 29 new cases were reported after diagnosing 244 samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories at the infection rate of 11.89 percent today,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 29 new patients diagnosed today, 18 were reported positive after diagnosing 150 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 18 new patients include 10 from Rangpur, three from Gaibandha, five from Kurigram districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:25 pm.

On the other hand, 11 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 11 newly infected COVID-19 patients include six from Dinajpur, two each from Thakurgaon and Panchagarh and one from Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of COVID-19 patients reached 18,590 as 29 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 18,590 patients currently stands at 4,879 in Rangpur, 835 in Panchagarh, 1,564 in Nilphamari, 1,060 in Lalmonirhat, 1,197 in Kurigram, 1,659 in Thakurgaon, 5,653 in Dinajpur and 1,743 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
