No Covid-19 death reported in Ctg on Friday

CHATTOGRAM, May 22, 2021 (BSS) – Chattogram on Friday reported 137 new coronavirus infections and no deaths linked to COVID-19, according to the Health Service Division.

With 137 new cases and 130 patients recovering from Covid-19 on Friday, the total number of cases reached 52,444 after testing 1168 samples in the last 24 hours at 10 COVID-19 laboratories in the district till Friday evening.

According to the hospital sources, among the 137 infected patients, 98 are from Chattogram city and 39 from different upazilas of the district.

“The daily new infection figure shows a slight enhanced compared to the previous day’s figure of 168, but the recovery rate declining continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chatogram told BSS today.

The health expert of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks to prevent the deadly coronavirus.

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram stood at 593, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.

“Among the reported fatalities, 432 were the residents of the port city and the rest 161 were from different upazilas of the district,” he said,

Among the total 52,444 coronavirus infected people, 41,907 are the residents of the port city and the rest 10,537 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he continued.

“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 38,754 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 130 more patients on Friday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 73.90.

A total of 5268 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, he mentioned.
