Fishermen in deep sea advised to return to coast by tomorrow

DHAKA, May 22, 2021 (BSS) – The fishermen who are already in the deep sea have been advised to return to the coast by tomorrow and others have been advised not to venture into the deep sea as a low has formed over the East-Central Bay and adjoining area.

“It (the low) is likely to intensify into a depression and further into a deep depression and then into a cyclonic storm,” a Met Office release said in a special weather bulletin here this afternoon.

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal number one, it said.

Earlier in the morning, the Met Office in a 24 hours weather forecast until 9am tomorrow said mild to moderate heat wave was sweeping over Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions and the districts of Rangmati, Cumilla, Chandpur, Noakhali, Moulovi Bazar, Feni and Pabna and it may continue.

It also said Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and the regions of Jashore, Kushtia Cumilla and Noakhali.

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country during the period, the forecast added.

Country’s maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 39.0 degrees Celsius at Khulna and minimum temperature of today was recorded 23.0 degrees Celsius at Syedpur in Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 6:37 pm today and rises at 5:13 am tomorrow in the capital.
