Govt increases different fee of GPs, PPs

DHAKA, May 20, 2021 (BSS) – The government has increased monthly retainer fees of government pleaders (GPs), public prosecutors (PPs), special prosecutors, additional prosecutors by four to five times.

Apart from that, daily fees to take part in the case hearing and valuation fees have also been increased.

The fees hike came following a special initiative taken by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq, ministry sources said.

The minister after taking the office for the first time in 2014, urged the state law officers to be more responsible and accountable and took initiative to increase their efficiency. As part of that, Anisul Huq sought the help of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to increase their various fees and the premier also responded positively.

Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar said now the monthly retainer fee for GPs, PPs and special public prosecutors has been increased to Taka 15 thousand and Taka 12 thousand for divisional cities and district cities respectively, which was Taka 3000 and Taka 1500, earlier.

Meanwhile, the monthly valuation fee for GPs has been fixed at Taka 5,000 maximum, which was Taka 3000 before.

Now the daily fees of PPs and special pps has been made Taka 600 for full day and Taka 300 for half day.

Monthly retainer fee for additional GPs and additional PPs has been increased to Taka 12 thousand and Taka nine thousand for divisional cities and district cities respectively.

Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar said these fees would be increased further in the future.
