COVID-19 cases hit 32,738 in Khulna division, 30,405 cured

KHULNA, May 20, 2021(BSS) – With detection of 171 more positive cases in all ten districts of the division on Thursday, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now hit 32,738 as 30,405 have been cured from the lethal virus infection.

“The recovery rate now stands at 92.87 percent,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS, adding that the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 32,738 with 171 new positive cases were reported after testing 316 samples at the Khulna Medical College Labratory and others two respective COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till today’s noon.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 56 were detected in Khulna followed by 30 in Jashore, 21 in Satkhira, 19 in Jhenidah, 18 in Kushtia, 12 in Bagerhat seven in Meherpur, three each in Magura and Narail and two in Chuadanga in the division.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients now stands at 9, 726 are in Khulna, 6,635 in Jashore, 4,745 in Kushtia, 2,853 in Jhenaidah, 1,907 in Chuadanga, 1,850 in Narail, 1,461 in Bagerhat, 1,365 in Satkhira, 1,249 in Magura and 947 in Meherpur, she added.

“Among the total 32,738 coronavirus infected persons, 4,113 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 30,405 have recovered and died 601 while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands to 601 in the division with two more death was reported in Jhenidah and Khulna in the division in last 24 hours.

The district-wise break-up of the fatalities stands 601 on Thursday. The break-up now at 161 in Khulna, 109 in Kushtia, 76 in Jashore, 55, in Jhenaidah, 53 in? Chuadanga, , 44 in Satkhira, 36 in Bagerhat, 25 in Narail, 23 in Magura and 19 in Meherpur in the division.

“The average casualty rate among all 32,738 COVID-19 positive cases now stands at over 1.83 percent in the division,” she mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 80 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while others 105 were released in all ten districts of the division over the last 24 hours till 12 noon today.

A total of people had, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 75, 456 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 76,182 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
