RCC embarks on TK 1175.52 crore project to construct 5 flyovers, 19 infrastructures

RAJSHAHI, May 20, 2021 (BSS)- Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has embarked upon a TK 1175.52 project for construction of five more flyovers and 19 infrastructures soon foroverall development of the city .

The flyovers will be constructed with an estimated cost of around TK 821.93 crore, while the infrastructures at TK 353.59 crore as part of RCC’s TK 2,993-crore project titled ‘Integrated Urban Infrastructure Development in Rajshahi City’.

City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton revealed this while speaking on agreement signing ceremony for consultancy services between RCC and three private consultancy farms at the city bhaban conference hall today as chief guest.

RCC Project Director Engineer Nurul Islam and representatives of the three farms signed three separate agreements on behalf of their respective sides.

Under the contract, RCC will receive services of preparing detailed design, drawing and consultation supervision including other incidental works for construction of five flyovers and 19 infrastructures.

In his remarks, Mayor Liton said the Rajshahi city will get a new look upon successful implementation of the project scheduled to be implemented by June, 2024.

“We are working relentlessly to make the city green, habitable and self-reliant ,” he added.

Project Director Nurul Islam gave an overview of the mega project along with its objectives and implementation process in his welcome speech.

With RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Shafir Uddin in the chair, the contract signing ceremony was also addressed, among others, by Panel Mayor Shariful Islam Babu and Ward Councilor Nijam-Ul-Azim.

Earlier, the city corporation has constructed a 202.5-meter flyover along with a 120-meter ramp at Budhpara Railway crossing with an estimated cost of TK 29.28 crore for the first time in Rajshahi city.

The flyover has been constructed on 6.793-kilometer east-west four-lane connecting road that has been constructed at a cost of TK 189.34 crore project.
