All expect good result against India, Afghanistan matches: Zico

DHAKA, May 18, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh national football team’s custodian Anisur Rahman Zico said they are expecting good result against India and Afghanistan matches of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“The task will be more easier for us if we able to play this two matches against India and Afghanistan in our home but unfortunately we can play at our home soil… however if we able to give our best effort, definitely we’ll do something good in these two matches,” said Zico during the team’s second day’s practice session held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium.

“We are hoping something good against India and Afghanistan. Both India and Afghanistan are ahead then us in ranking but our present team is consist with the best performers of the league……. all are fit and confident, and they are upbeat to do well among the three matches,” he added.

Replying to a question Zico said Rimon Hossain, Yeasin Arafat are doing well in the league .. Biswanath is also good .. I think if Rimon and Yeasin able to give their best and Topu able to give back from the defence and the defenders will do their job as per according as they did against India match, of course we can expect a good result.

Zico said Afghanistan, India and Oman all are familiar teams as we have playing experience against the three teams. The players also have some idea about the teams. As there are still more time in hand, so we’ll discuss with the teams later on.

Replying to a question Zico said the training has just started and they would get more time and in the meantime the coach would provide all guideline. The Bangladesh custodian hoped something good for the team if they able to follow the coach’s guideline properly and the players would bale to give their best in the match.

The Jamal Bhuyan and Co. are expected to leave for Qatar on May 21 to play their remaining matches of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. According to the fixtures, Bangladesh will against Afghanistan, India and Oman on June 3, 7 and 15 respectively.
