COVID-19 cases hit 32,434 in Khulna division, 30,179 cured

KHULNA, May 18, 2021(BSS) – With detection of 112 more positive cases in all ten districts of the division on Monday, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now stood at 32,434.

“The recovery rate now stands at 93.04 percent,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS, adding that the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 32,434 with 112 new positive cases were reported after testing 200 samples at the Khulna Medical College Laboratory and others two respective COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till today’s noon.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 50 were detected in Khulna followed by 22 in Jashore, eight in Satkhira, seven in Meherpur, six each in Kushtia and Jhenidah, five in Chuadanga, three each in Narail and Magura and two in Bagerhat in the division.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients now stands at 9,619 are in Khulna, 6,582 in Jashore, 4,712 in Kushtia, 2,824 in Jhenaidah, 1,902 in Chuadanga, 1,845 in Narail, 1,446 in Bagerhat, 1,323 in Satkhira, 1,246 in Magura and 935 in Meherpur, she added.

“Among the total 32,434 coronavirus infected persons, 4,075 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 30,179 have recovered and died 597 while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands at 597 in the division with no more death was reported in the division last 24 hours.

The district-wise break-up of the fatalities stands 597 on Monday. The break-up now at 160 in Khulna, 108 in Kushtia, 76 in Jashore, 54, in Jhenaidah, 53 in Chuadanga, , 44 in Satkhira, 35 in Bagerhat, 25 in Narail, 23 in Magura 19 in Meherpur in the the division.
