30th death anniversary of Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury tomorrow
DHAKA, May 17, 2021 (BSS)-Tomorrow is the 30th death anniversary of former Member of the Parliament and the Constituent Assembly, treasurer of Mujib Bahini Freedom Fighter Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury, widely known as ‘Dada Bhai’.
On the occasion, of the death anniversary of the nephew of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a documentary program titled ‘Smarane Tumi’ will be aired on Bangladesh Television, said a release.
Besides, prayers will be organized at Shibchar Mosque in Madaripur while maintaining the health and hygiene guidelines.
Dada Bhai was one of the organizers of 66’s 6-point, mass uprising of 69 and great liberation war of 1971.
During his lifetime Dada Bhai was the president of the editorial board of the popular daily Banglar Bani. He was the president of Arambagh Sports Club and the founding president of Khulna Abahani Sports Club.
Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury was a member of the central committee of Bangladesh Awami League and president of Madaripur district Awami League.
He died of a heart attack on May 19, 1991.
Nur-i-Alam Chowdhury, the eldest son of Dada Bhai, is a Member of Parliament from Madaripur 1 constituency. He is also the Chief Whip as well as the General Secretary of the Awami League Parliamentary Party.
