Booters back to business

DHAKA, May 17, 2021 (BSS)- After Eid Ul-Fitr holidays, the national booters returned to business as they started their first day training session under the supervision of head coach Jamie Day ahead of the Qatar mission.

Defying a scorching heat, Jamal Bhuyan and Co. went through a two hours hard training session that started at 10 am at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) for the remaining FIFA World Cup Qualifiers matches.

The Qatar mission will not be easy for Jamie Day’s men but the English born head coach is found very much positive with their remaining World Cup qualifiers matches in Qatar.

He said it’s possible for his side to beat Afghanistan and India if his team stays positive and plays well.

Talking to the pressmen at BNS during the first day practice session, Day focused on staying positive. The English coach said they would try to win all three games and they have to play extremely well to do that as the head coach knows it very well that the mission is not so easy.

Jamie Day thinks that training under the scorching hot may have a positive impact for the team. He said they will have to play in more hot weather in Qatar so training under the hot weather will bring a positive impact for his team.

Day’s charges are now scheduled to have four days of training before heading to Qatar on May 21 for the second phase of their preparation ahead of Group E matches of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers that will be held in Doha between June 3 and 15.

Bangladesh team are also scheduled to play a couple of practice matches against the local selection in Qatar before facing Afghanistan on June 3, but the Bangladesh Football Federation has not fixed any dates of the matches yet.

Bangladesh will play their remaining Group E fixtures of the World Cup qualifiers in June in Qatar. According to the fixtures, Bangladesh will play against Afghanistan, India and Oman on June 3, 7 and 15 respectively.

Earlier, after spending the Eid Ul-Fitr holiday, thirty two out of thirty three booters reported at the city’s local hotel on Sunday last afternoon.

Bashundhara Kings defender Bishwanath Ghosh could not report to the camp due to his injury problem.
