21 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 13, 2021 (BSS) – Twenty-one more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division.

“The 21 new cases were reported after diagnosing 167 samples today at two COVID-19 Laboratories at the daily infection rate of 12.57 percent,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 21 new patients diagnosed today, 12 were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 12 new patients include 11 from Rangpur and one from Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, nine new patients were reported after diagnosing 73 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“All of the nine new patients include six from Dinajpur and three from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS at 5:35 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of COVID-19 patients reached 18,314 as 21 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 18,314 patients stands at 4,786 in Rangpur, 832 in Panchagarh, 1,551 in Nilphamari, 1,049 in Lalmonirhat, 1,175 in Kurigram, 1,651 in Thakurgaon, 5,545 in Dinajpur and 1,726 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
