The Shenzhen Component Index opened at 13,907.18 points, down 157.69 points, or 1.12 percent.
The Hang Seng Index opened at 27,920.01 points, down 311.03 points, or 1.10 percent.
The S&P/ASX 200 index opened at 7,017.80 points, down 27.10 points, or 0.38 percent.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average opened at 27,800.00 points, down 347.51 points, or 1.23 percent.
The Straits Times Index had no trading.
