Neo-JMB militant Sakib sent to jail
DHAKA, May 11, 2021 (BSS) – A court here today sent to jail Sakib Ahmed Chowdhury alias Jakir, an active member of banned militant outfit neo-Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam passed the order as police produced the accused before the court after his five-day remand in a case lodged under anti-terror act, and pleaded to keep him behind the bars until the completion of probe in the case.
Police on May 4 arrested Sakib from the capital’s Matuail area and filed the case with Kotwali Police Station.
According to police, Sakib, a graduate from a private university in Sylhet, used to create and maintain contacts between the leaders and members of the militant group online.
