KUSHTIA, May 08, 2021 (BSS)- Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said the government is attaching utmost importance to the decision of physicians engaged in the treatment of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
“The government is giving importance to the decision of the medical team appointed by Begum Khaleda Zia. There is no question of taking the opinion of anyone other than the doctors appointed by her,” he said.
Hanif was talking to journalists before inaugurating the new clinical room named ‘Dr SM Nuruddin Al Baki Rumi’ located at Kushtia 250 bed Medical College Hospital in the district.
It was not known whether Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury had been appointed as Khaleda Zia’s personal physician or not, he said, adding that therefore, concentrating on or accepting his opinion is unnecessary.
The government is attaching importance to the opinion of the doctors appointed by Khaleda Zia not someone else’s, he reiterated.
Responding to the statement of BNP leaders that Begum Zia’s treatment is being politicized, he said, “We notice that BNP leaders and workers are more concerned about doing politics of over her medical services rather ensuring her healthcare.”
Khaleda’s physical condition at the moment did not allow her to be taken abroad, he said, adding that :”There are enough arrangements for providing quality health care here.”
District Awami League President Sadar Uddin Khan, Vice-President Haji Rabiul Islam, General Secretary Azgar Ali, Joint General Secretary Sheikh Hasan Mehedi, Organizing Secretary Mazharul Alam Sumon, Kushtia Medical College Head of Surgery Department Dr. SM Mustanjid, Kushtia Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Ataur Rahman Ata, District Chhatra League President Atiqur Rahman Anik and General Secretary Sheikh Hafiz were present, among others, on the occasion.
