250 families get humanitarian food assistance in Natore

NATORE, May 8, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 250 COVID-19 pandemic affected families of imam, muezzin and khadem in Sadar upazila of the district received humanitarian food assistance as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today.

Md. Shafiqul Islam Shimul, MP, Natore-2 constituency (Natore Sadar and Naldanga) handed over the aid to the imams, muezzins and khadems as the chief guest at the Upazila Parishad conference room this afternoon with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Shahriaz in the chair abiding by the health directives.

Ratna Ahmed, MP, for the reserved women’s seat (Natore and Naogaon), Uma Chowdhury Jolly, Chairman of Natore Municipality, Shariful Islam Ramzan, Chairman of Natore Sadar Upazila Parishad and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Jahangir Alam, among others, were present on the occasion.

The chief guest said the district administration provided the assistance from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s relief fund and as a part of the government’s instant humanitarian support.

“The government has stood beside jobless, destitute, unemployed and helpless people with the gift of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the epidemic situation,” he added.

Under the programme, each of 250 imams, muezzins and khadem families was given food items as a gift from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for celebrating the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
