PM working to alleviate misery of people: Farooque
BARISHAL, May 06, 2021 (BSS)- State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque, MP, today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to materialize the dream of building ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“The government is giving cash and gift-items to the farmers, small traders and common people affected by the ongoing epidemic. We are better than other countries as the Prime Minister thinks of the general public. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the mother of humanity, is working to alleviate the misery of the people,” he said.
He said this while addressing a programme to distribute relief items among the low-income poor, floating and indigent people at the Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Stadium in Barishal city as chief guest.
The district administration organized it in order to distribute gift items given by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the poor people.
Rice, pulses, potatoes, oil, salt, sugar and semai were provided as gifts to 1,500 people there.
Farooque further said, “I myself started giving relief, food aid, awareness related leaflets from the very beginning of the corona pandemic.”
He urged all to work together for the betterment of Barishal and increasing health protection of all against COVID-19.
With Barishal Deputy Commissioner Jasim Uddin Haider in the chair, the programme was attended, among others, by Divisional Commissioner Md Saiful Hasan Badal, Barishal Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Shahabuddin Khan, Barishal District Superintendent of Police Md Maruf Hossain, Barishal District Awami League General Secretary Advocate Talukder Md Yunus, Barishal Metropolitan Jubo League Joint Convener Alhaj Mahmudul Haque Khan Mamun, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Rajib Ahmed, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Prashant Kumar Das and Additional District Magistrate Gautam Barai.
