Mohammedan register seventh win in BPL

DHAKA, May 5, 2021 (BSS)- Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited registered their seventh victory as they beat Saif Sporting Club by 2-1 goals in the second round match of TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.

In the day’s match, foreign recruit Yassan Ouatching and Malian forward Souleymane Diabate scored one goal each to secure Mohammedans’ seventh victory in the league while forward Maraz Hossain scored a lone goal for Saif SC.

After the barren first half, Yassan Ouatching broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for Mohammedan in the 52nd minute of the match while Maraz Hossain restored the parity for Saif Sporting Club in the 69th minute of the match.

Souleymane Diabate, the hero of Mohammedan’s previous match victory, sealed the triumph scoring the second goal for Mohammedan in the 84th minute of the match.

The day’s win saw, the traditional black and white Motijheel outfit Mohammedan Sporting Club move up with 25 points from 14 matches while the Federation Cup runners-up Saif Sporting Club remained at their previous credit of 23 points playing the same number of matches.

Mohammedan played good football all through the proceeding and notched their deserving victory while Saif SC offered some resistance in the second half but could not change the fate of the match.

Mohammedan will play their next match against Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra while Saif Sporting Club meet Chittagong Abahani Limited. Both the matches will be held on Saturday (May 8).

Earlier, on last night’s match, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra blanked old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 3-0 goals at the same venue.

In the proceeding, Tajikistan defender Siyovush Asrorov, Kyrgyzstan midfielder Bakhtiyar Duyshobekov and Brazilian forward Giancarlo Rodrigues scored one goal each to secure victory for Sheikh Russel, who led the first half by 2-0 goals.

Asrorov gave Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra a deserving lead early in the very 3rdminute while Bakhtiyar doubled the lead for Russel in the 35th minute of the match from a penalty.

After the lemon break, Rodrigues completed the winners’ tally scoring the third goal for Sheikh Russel in the 70thminute of the match.

Sheikh Russel completely dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory while Rahmatganj were totally off-colored.

The win saw, Sheikh Russel KC improve their tally with 26 points from 14 matches while Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society remained at their previous credit of 14 points playing the same number of matches.

Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society will meet Abahani Limited, Dhaka on May 7 while Sheikh Russel KC will play their next match against Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited on May 8.
