Blaming govt in all issues becomes BNP’s intrinsic habit: Quader

DHAKA, May 4, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road
Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said blaming the
government in every issue has become an intrinsic characteristic of
BNP.

“BNP leaders see darkness in moonlit night. Making comment on
democracy doesn’t suit BNP. When BNP was in power, they created a
stigmatized chapter of holding February 15 voter-less polls,” he told
a regular press conference at his official residence here.

Mentioning that BNP is champion in the record of making the
election system controversial, Quader said more than one crore fake
voters were enrolled in voter’s list during the BNP tenure and the
then Chief Election Commissioner MA Aziz took preparation to hold a
farce election.

Because of that, the country went to 1/11 situation, he said,
adding that the people didn’t forget the forgery in by-polls to Magura
and Dhaka-10.

The AL general secretary said the voting had been ended within 10
am during the BNP’s term while at that time, polls results of a center
in Chattogram were announced in radio and television before the polls
counting.

Quader said cash and food aids are being given to 36.5 lakh
working class and low-income families.

These aids are not being given to the relatives of leaders and
workers of AL or associate bodies rather the low-income families are
being given the aids through scrutiny, he added.

The minister said strong directives have been given to reach cash
and food aids among the real beneficiaries. If anyone makes
irregularities or misdeeds over the cash and food aids, stern actions
would be taken against him or her, he said.

About BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s comment
that the government has manipulated media as per its own interest,
Quader questioned if the government controls media, how BNP could
spread hatred and propaganda against the government.

Because of the independent media, BNP has still existence in the
country even after failing in movement and polls, he mentioned.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government is making its
all-out strides to contain the spread of the coronavirus, provide
treatment and stand by the distressed people.

The government is providing financial and food assistances to those
who become jobless due to the pandemic-induced lockdown side by side
with keeping open employment of workers, he said.

But BNP could not find any initiatives of the government, he said.

Instead of admiring the government efforts in keeping balance in
life and livings during the crisis, BNP is making made-up talks as
like as trained parrot.
