Road accident kills three in Sylhet

SYLHET, May 3, 2021 (BSS) – Three people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Darbasth area on Sylhet-Tamabil road under Jaintapur upazila of the district in the early hours of today.

The deceased were identified as Suhel Ahmed, 35, owner of a car workshop, Sultan Ahmed Minhaz, 27, and Ashikur Rahman, 31, of Dholibil Daksin village under Kanaighat upazila of the district.

Police said the accident occurred when a loaded truck entered a roadside car workshop around 1.40am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving three dead on the spot and injuring two others.

“Police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent those to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital,” said Gulam Dostogir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jaintapur Police Station, adding that the wounded were also taken to the hospital.

The bodies will be handed over to their family members after post-mortem, he further said.

A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
