BNP patronized Hefazat mayhem: Khalid
DINAJPUR, May 01, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury today said the BNP leaders had patronized the mayhem carried out by Hefazat in the country during the celebration of golden jubilee of independence.
“In the name of Hefazat and under the leadership of Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, all killings, arsons and violence were held in different parts of the country on the golden jubilee of independence of the country,” he said.
The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at a function to distribute food aid among the poor and unemployed people at the Bandhan Community Center in Dinajpur this afternoon at the initiative of the district Awami League’s relief management committee.
He said Jamaat-BNP attacked the innocent people of Bangladesh in the name of Hefazat on the 50th anniversary of independence of the country.
Khalid said, “We have successfully dealt with the first wave of corona pandemic under the leadership of the Prime Minister.”
Since the beginning of the second wave, the leaders and workers of Awami League have been staying beside the people and showed humanity as much as they could whereas BNP-Jamaat is involved in killing and destruction in the name of Hefazat, he added.
“Bangladesh Awami League does not engage in politics of killing, rape, looting and arson. The Awami League does politics of humanity. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given shelter to 11 lakh Rohingyas on humanitarian grounds. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stood by the helpless people in corona pandemic,” he continued.
District Awami League co-president Altafuzzaman Mita, convener of the relief management committee Bazlul Haque, Joint General Secretary and Member Secretary of the Relief Management Committee Farooquzzaman Chowdhury Michael, Organizing Secretary Shah Rafiqul Islam and Education Affairs Secretary Kamrul Huda Helal were present, among others, on the occasion.
Besides, in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, food aid was distributed among more than 300 helpless and unemployed people in accordance with the hygiene rules there.
Earlier in the morning, the state minister took part in a meeting to distribute health care materials and exchange views on the initiative of Bochaganj Upazila of Awami League.
He also inaugurated the AL party office of Biral Upazila Mangalpur Union in the afternoon.
