Drug peddler killed in C’nawabganj gun battle
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 21, 2018 (BSS)-An unidentified drug peddler was killed
in a gun battle with members of the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-
5 at Mollan village under Sundarpur union in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila in
the early hours of today.
RAB sources said, acting on a tip off, an operation team of the force
raided a mango orchard at the village around 1-30 am.
Sensing the presence of RAB, a gang of alleged drug peddlers numbering
about five opened fire on the RAB.
The gun battle erupted as the RAB responded to the firing. At one stage,
the drug peddlers fled the orchard leaving behind the bullet-hit body of one
of their cohorts.
Later, the RAB recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for
autopsy.
During the raid, the RAB also recovered a pistol, a magazine, four rounds of
bullet and 117 bottles of contraband Indian phensidyl syrup.
