Monnujan distributes foodstuffs among 500 people in Khulna
KHULNA, May 1, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, MP, today distributed foodstuffs among 500 jobless easy bike and three wheeler drivers and day labourers marking the Great May Day.
Khulna District Administration organised the programme in front of joint director of labour office premises here.
The state minister distributed rice, pulse, oil, potatoes, vegetable and chicken meat among the distressed people for mitigating their financial hardship amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation by strictly maintaining health safety guidelines.
During the distribution of relief materials, Begum Monnujan Sufian said that the government continued to distribute food items to reduce hardship of helpless people amid Covid-19 pandemic.
“Everyone has to follow proper government hygiene rules to protect themselves from the coronavirus, she said, adding that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is besides of unemployed and helpless people.”
The state minister said the incumbent government is working relentlessly to establish the rights of workers.
Terming country’s economy is strengthening in the labourers hand, the state minister said the government is trying to combat coronavirus side by side running country’s economy.
Khulna city corporation mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the function as guest of honour.
Additional divisional commissioner Sayed Robiul Alam, additional metropolis commissioner Sarder Rakibul Islam, general secretary of city unit Awami League MDA Babul Rana, deputy director of local government of Khulna deputy commissioner office Md Iqbal Hossain, additional deputy commissioner(general) Md Yousup Ali, director of joint director of labour Md Mizanur Rahman and Khulna Journalists Union president Mahbub Alam Sohag were present at the function with Khulna deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain in the chair.
Earlier, the state minister joined a meeting at Shaheed Hadis Park. City and District unit Sramik League organised the programme marking the Great May Day. The minister distributed rice, pulse, sugar and semai, among 650 labourers after the meeting.
KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Lawmaker of Khulna-6 constituency Akteruzzaman Babu, among others, were present.
