Road accident kills motorcyclist in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, May 1, 2021 (BSS) – A motorcycle rider was killed and his co-rider injured in a road accident at Gomostapur in the district on Friday afternoon.
The deceased is Afsar Ali, 68, son of late Abul Kashem of Kochpara village under Niamatpur upazila in Naogaon district.
Police said the accident occurred when a sand-laden truck hit a motorcycle from behind in Nimtala Kathal area under Gomostapur upazila of the district around 3 pm, leaving both the motorcyclists injured on the spot.
Locals rescued and rushed them to the Gomostapur Upazila Health Complex where the on- duty doctors declared Afsar Ali dead.
Critically injured Md. Moinul Islam, 58, was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The truck was detained but its driver managed to flee, said Dilip Kumar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gomostapur thana.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, he added.
