Terrific Taskin breaks Sri Lankan dominance

DHAKA, April 30, 2021 (BSS)—Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed reaped the rewards of his improved fitness, delivering a sensational spell to break the dominance of Sri Lanka at the half-way mark of day two of the second and final Test at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

In an unforgiving condition and in a pitch conducive to the batsman, he left Sri Lankan at troublesome situation with his pace and bounce. By doing so, he scalped three wickets to reduce Sri Lanka at 382-6.

Sri Lanka looked to extend their dominance after resuming the day on 291-1 but Taskin gave the side breakthrough twice in the morning session, removing Lahiru Thirimanne, who added just 9 runs to his overnight total to be out on 140 and Angelo Mathews for 5. In this session Sri Lanka could score just 43 runs, which testament of how dominating the Bangladesh bowler, specially Taskin was.

Taskin then took the key wicket of Pathum Nissanka, who scored 30 and looked dangerous for Bangladesh.
