TCB goods seized from grocery shop in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, April 30, 2021 (BSS)- Huge consumer goods of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) were seized from a grocery shop in Reshampatti area of the city yesterday afternoon.

On a tip-off, a team of the Department of National Consumers Rights Protection (DNCRP) conducted a sudden raid in the shop owned by Mustaque Ahmed Kajal around 4.30 pm and seized the huge TCB goods.

“We’ve seized 1,520 liters of edible oil, 350 kilograms of sugar, 300-kg of lentil and 200-kg of chickpea after searching the shop,” said Hassan-Al-Maruf, assistant director of the DNCRP.

He said the goods were supposed to be sold in markets at higher prices instead of open market sales on trucks.

TCB Regional Head Rabiul Murshed told BSS that Mustaque Ahmed Kajal is one of the TCB dealers. He was given the goods for selling those on trucks over a week back. But he stored it in the shop illegally instead of open market sale, the TCB Regional Head added.

Murshed said stern legal action should be taken against the law-violator.
