47 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, April 29, 2021 (BSS) – Forty-seven more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

Health officials said 47 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples of all eight districts in the division at the two COVID-19 laboratories today at the daily infection rate of 12.50 percent.

Among the 47 new patients diagnosed today, 19 were reported positive after diagnosing 182 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 19 new patients include nine from Rangpur, three from Gaibandha, six from Kurigram and one from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 28 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 28 new patients include 25 from Dinajpur, two from Thakurgaon and one from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS at 6:10 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of COVID-19 patients reached 17,946 as 47 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 17,946 patients stands at 4,672 in Rangpur, 824 in Panchagarh, 1,523 in Nilphamari, 1,041 in Lalmonirhat, 1,145 in Kurigram, 1,641 in Thakurgaon, 5,394 in Dinajpur and 1,706 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
