Chhatra Odhikar leader Akram remanded in accused snatching case

DHAKA, April 29, 2021 (BSS) – A court here today placed Akram Hossain, general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad’s Dhaka University wing on two-day remand in a case lodged for snatching accused from police custody.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondal passed the order as police produced Akram before the court and pleaded to place him on seven-day remand in the case lodged with Shahbagh Police Station.

Police arrested Akram early today.

Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad brought out a procession in Motijheel area on March 25, protesting the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As police tried to push them away from the road, they locked in a battle with the law enforcers.

Police arrested one Abul Kalam from the scene and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, for treatment. There, the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad again attacked police and snatched the accused from custody.

Sub-inspector Raihan Kabir of Paltan Model Police Station filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on March 25 against 19.
