36 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, April 28, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty-six more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

Health officials said 36 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples of all eight districts in the division at the two COVID-19 laboratories today at the daily infection rate of 9.57 percent.

Among the 36 new patients diagnosed today, 19 were reported positive after diagnosing 182 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 19 new patients include 12 from Rangpur and three from Gaibandha and two from Kurigram districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 17 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 17 new patients include 15 from Dinajpur and two from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS at 6 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of COVID-19 patients reached 17,896 as 36 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 17,896 patients stands at 4,663 in Rangpur, 824 in Panchagarh, 1,521 in Nilphamari, 1,041 in Lalmonirhat, 1,139 in Kurigram, 1,638 in Thakurgaon, 5,370 in Dinajpur and 1,700 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
