313 Hefajat financiers identified: DB
DHAKA, April 27, 2021 (BSS)- The Detective Branch (DB) of police has identified 313 individuals who are financing Hefajat-e-Islam.
“A total of 313 financers of Hefajat-e-Islam have been identified. We also gathered information over transaction of Tk 6 crore in different bank accounts of Mamunul Haque,” additional commissioner of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) AKM Hafiz Akhter told reporters at his office today.
He said Hefajat leaders had planned to remove former Amir of Hefajat Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi at a meeting in the wedding ceremony of the son of just dissolved Hefazat committee’s Amir Junayed Babunagari.
A number of Hefajat leaders including Mamunul Haque and Junayed Al Habib held the meeting to make Babunagari Hefajat’s Amir removing Allama Shafi, he said.
Hafiz said then they created anarchy in Chattogram Hathazari Madrasah and forced out other Hefajat leaders who were close to Allama Shafi.
Activists of Hefajat carried out mayhem in different places in the country including the capital Dhaka, Chattogram and Brahmanbaria from March 26 to 28.
