245 more test positive for Covid-19 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, April 27, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 245 people have been detected positive for coronavirus after testing 1,387 samples in the last 24 hours at 10 COVID-19 laboratories in the district.

According to the hospital sources, the infection rate is 17.66 percent during the period.

Among the infection patients, 179 are from Chattogram city and 66 from different upazilas of the district, the sources added.

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases rapidly reached 49,340-mark in the district where the infection rate continues rising hurriedly again in recent weeks

“The infection rate is showing a quickly rising trend again and recovery rate declining continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Focal Person of COVID-19 Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, also the civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

The health expert of Chattogram urged the city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks due to continuous increasing corona infections here.

With no more death cases reported here on Monday, the number of fatalities remained steady at 504, Dr Rabbi said, adding: “Among the reported fatalities, 375 were the residents of the port city and the rest 129 were from different upazilas of the district.”

Among the total 49,340 coronavirus infected people, 39,579 are the residents of the port city and the rest 9,761 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he continued.

“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 36,265 in the district with the recovery of 83 more patients on Monday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 73.55.

A total of 1,528 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here, he mentioned.
