36 more test positive for COVID-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, April 26, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty-six more people were diagnosed with coronavirus

(COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a

rapidly rising trend in recent weeks.

Health officials said 36 new cases were reported after diagnosing 282 samples of all eight

districts in the division at the two COVID-19 laboratories today at the daily infection

rate of 12.77 percent.

Among the 36 new patients diagnosed today, 23 were reported positive after diagnosing 188

samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 23 new patients include 15 from Rangpur, three each from Kurigram and Gaibandha one

each from Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM

Nurunnobi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 13 new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-

19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 13 new patients include 10 Dinajpur, two from Thakurgaon and one from Nilphamari

districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS tonight.

Siddiqui told BSS that the number of COVID-19 patients sharply reached 17,816 as 36 new

positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 17,816 patients stands at 4,638 in Rangpur, 824 in

Panchagarh, 1,517 in Nilphamari, 1,040 in Lalmonirhat, 1,134 in Kurigram, 1,635 in

Thakurgaon, 5,336 in Dinajpur and 1,695 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
