2,20,920 get second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 26, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 2,20,920 citizens got the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with inoculation of 11,077 more people today with the second dose of the jab in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 11,077 citizens, who were inoculated with the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today, include 6,712 male and 4,365 female, of all eight districts in the division.

“The total of 2,20,920 second dose recipient citizens, including 1,45,056 male and 75,864 female of the division, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS at 6 pm.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 2,20,920 citizens stands at 43,029 in Rangpur, 20,498 in Panchagarh, 30,153 in Nilphamari, 16,585 in Lalmonirhat, 19,746 in Kurigram, 22,551 in Thakurgaon, 47,966 in Dinajpur and 20,392 in Gaibandha.

“Meanwhile, only 18 citizens including nine male and nine female of Rangpur district alone were vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today in the division,” Dr Ali said.

The total number of citizens who got the first dose of the vaccine now rose to 5,96,952, including 3,58,041 male and 2,38,911 female, with inoculation of more 18 people today in the division.

The district-wise break-up of the first dose recipient 5,96,952 citizens stands at 1,68,569 in Rangpur, 44,498 in Panchagarh, 76,727 in Nilphamari, 37,344 in Lalmonirhat, 46,128 in Kurigram, 49,113 in Thakurgaon, 1,11,697 in Dinajpur and 62,876 in Gaibandha.

After taking the second dose of the COVID-019 vaccine today at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH), a number of citizens expressed their satisfaction over the excellent management at RpMCH vaccination centre for the purpose.

All of them felt no side effects after taking the second doses of the jab.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said vaccination of registered citizens with the second doses of the jab will continue onward from now till further notification.

He especially called upon all people to abide by the health directives and hygiene rules properly even after taking the first and second doses of the jabs to contribute to containing the rapidly rising coronavirus infection rate in the division.
