30,733 infected with Covid-19, 27,340 cured in Khulna division

KHULNA, April 26, 2021 (BSS) – With the detection of 146 new positive cases in all ten districts of the division, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now hit 30,733 till this noon.

Besides, a total of 27,340 have been cured from the lethal virus infection and recovery rate now stands at 88.69 percent,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS today.

The total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 30,733 with 146 new positive cases reported after testing 250 samples at the Khulna Medical College Laboratory and two others COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, 47 were detected in Jashore, followed by 44 in Khulna, 18 in Kushtia,13 in Jhenaidah, eight in Narail, six in Chuadanga, four in Bagerhat, three each in Magura, Meherpur and Satkhira district.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients are 8,902 in Khulna, 6,215 in Jashore, 4,565 in Kushtia, 2,730 in Jhenaidah, 1,855 in Chuadanga, 1,783 in Narail, 1,261in Satkhira, 1325 in Bagerhat, 1,204 in Magura and 893 in Meherpur, she added.

“Among the total 30,733 coronavirus infected persons, 3,792 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 27,340 have been recovered and 557 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands at 557 in the division with four more deaths were reported in Jashore, Narail, Satkhira and Kushtia in the division on Monday.

The district-wise break-up of the death tolls are 143 in Khulna, 106 in Kushtia, 70 in Jashore, 50 in Jhenaidah, 49 in Chuadanga, 43 in Satkhira, 32 in Bagerhat, 23 in Narail,18 in Meherpur and 23 in Magura in the division.

“The average casualty rate among all 30,733 COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 1.80 percent in the division,” she mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 28 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while others 33 were released in all ten districts of the division over the last 24 hours till 12 this noon.

A total of 73,930 people had, so far, been kept under home quarantine and isolation at hospital.

Of them, 72,745 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 3,792 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
