5 die, 85 more test positive for Covid-19 in Sylhet

SYLHET, April 26, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 5 COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 337 in the division.

“Among the total death, 265 were from Sylhet district, 27 from Sunamganj, 18 from Habiganj and the rest 27 from Moulvibazar district,” said Sylhet divisional health director Sultana Razia.

“The number of COVID-19 cases rose to 20,320 in the division where the infection and causality rate continues rising hastily again in recent weeks,” she added.

A total of 88 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours at four COVID-19 laboratories in Sylhet.

Among the newly infected people, 72 are from Sylhet district, 6 from Moulovibazar, 5 from Habiganj and 2 from Sunamganj district.

Among the total 20,320 coronavirus detected people, 13,002 are the residents of Sylhet district, 2,716 from Sunamganj district, 2,320 are from Habiganj and the rest 2,282 are from Moulvibazar district.

Besides, the number of recovered patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 18,609 in the district with the recovery of 166 more patients in the last 24 hours discharged from COVID-19 isolation center and different hospitals in the division, the health official said.

The percentage of recovery rate stands at 91.57.

A total of 266 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals in the division.
