RANGPUR, April 25, 2021 (BSS) – Family members of a farmer, who died of a heart attack after observing damage of standing crops on his crop land by hailstorms on Friday, got financial assistance from the government in Pirganj upazila here on Saturday.
Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Biroda Rani Roy met family members of the deceased farmer Shahidul Islam Lalu of Bhagwanpur village under the upazila and handed over Taka 13,000 as financial assistance to them on behalf of the government.
The UNO also provided high yielding varieties of Aush rice seed to the poor family members to recoup the crop losses incurred during the seasonal hailstorms.
“On behalf of the government, Pirganj upazila administration will provide all possible assistance to the family of the deceased farmer to rebuild their life,” the UNO said.
Upazila level government officials, local public representatives and elite were present on the occasion.
