Khaleque distributes food aid, among 500 poor people in Khulna

KHULNA, April 24, 2021 (BSS) – Khulna Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque today distributed foodstuffs among 500 poor and jobless people to mitigate their sufferings caused by ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

City mayor distributed foodstuffs including rice, pulses, potatoes, vegetables, among 500 jobless easy bike drivers, tailors, daily labourers, at Khulna Zila School Ground premises at the initiative of the Khulna district administration following strict health safety guidelines.

Chaired by Khulna deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain, law maker of Khulna-2 constituency Sheikh Salah Uddin Zewel virtually joined the programme as guests of honour.

Khulna divisional commissioner Md Ismail Hossain, President of district unit Awami League and Zila Parishad chairman Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, General Secretary of Khulna City Awami League(AL) MDA Babul Rana, Khulna Press Club president S M Zahid Hossain, former commander of Muktijoddha command council Prof Alamgir Kabir, President of Khulna Journalists Union Md Mahbub Alam Sohag, deputy director of local government of deputy commissioner’s office Md Iqbal Hossain, additional deputy commissioner Md Yousup Ali and additional deputy commissioner Md Sadrkur Rahman, among others, were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, city mayor said that the common people of the country must get food assistance in the pandemic .

“Everyone should follow the government’s instructions to get rid of contracting Corona virus ,” he said, adding that the government will continue to distribute relief materials among the helpless, destitute and ultra-poor”.
