4 die, 279 more test positive for Covid-19 in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, April 24, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 279 people have been tested positive for coronavirus after testing 1,810 samples in the last 24 hours at sevan COVID-19 laboratories in the district.
According to the hospital sources, the infection rate is 15.41 percent during the period.
Among the infection patients, 209 are from Chattogram city and 70 from different upazilas of the district, the sources added.
Meanwhile, a total of four patients died in the last 24 hours in Chattogram district.
The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram reached 486, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.
“Among the reported fatalities, 362 were the residents of the port city and the rest 124 were from different upazilas of the district,” he said, adding that the number of COVID-19 cases speedily rose to 48,716 in Chattogram district where the infection and causality rate continues rising hurriedly again in recent weeks.
“The infection rate is showing a quickly rising trend again and recovery rate declining continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Focal Person of the COVID-19 Dr Rabbi told BSS today.
Among the total 48,716 coronavirus infected people, 39,100 are the residents of the port city and the rest 9,616 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he continued.
“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 36,187 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 105 more patients on Friday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 74.30.
A total of 1,452 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, he mentioned.
