7,200 farmers get agro-incentive for Aush farming in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, April 24, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 7200 small and marginal farmers of all seven upazilas here have got seed and chemical fertilizer as agro-incentive from the government for Aush farming during the current Kharif-1 season.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) office sources said the objective of the seed and fertilizer distribution to the small and marginal farmers is to inspire them to boost production of Aush paddy for achieving sustainable food security of the country.

Of the total beneficiary farmers, 910 in Sadar and Sadullapur upazilas each, 900 in Palashbari upazila, 750 in Gobindaganj upazila, 2,080 in Sundarganj upazila, 800 in Shaghata upazila and 850 in Fulchhari upazila, the sources added.

Additional Deputy Director of the DAE (Crop) of the district Md. Qumruzzaman said the incentives distribution was almost completed successfully everywhere in the district.

Each of the farmers got five kilograms of improved quality Aush paddy seed, 20-kg of Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10-kg of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer for Aush paddy cultivation on one bigha of land each free of cost under the government’s “Agricultural Incentive Programme”.

Abul Hossain, a farmer of Malibari union under Sadar upazila, expressed his gratitude to the government for standing beside them. Farmers are now happy after getting the incentives, he said.

Deputy Director of the DAE of the district Agriculturist Masudur Rahman said the incentives distribution was almost completed successfully everywhere in the district as per the directives of the government.
