2nd round of BPL to begin April 30
DHAKA, April 22, 2021 (BSS)- Ending all the speculation, the Bangladesh Football Federation’s (BFF) Professional League Committee has decided to start the second round of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football from April 30.
The league committee took the decision after discussing with the members of the participating clubs of BPL in the virtual emergency meeting of the professional league committee held today.
Though it was learnt before that whether the lockdown ends on April 28 or extend after that date, BFF wants to start the league soon.
Professional League Management committee‘s chairman and BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy and members of the clubs participating in BPL were present in the meeting.
Though the second round of league will begin from April 30 but it’ll not last long in the field because the league will go on long breaks after rolling three to four rounds due to Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, national team’s camps and the AFC Cup.
Like the first round, the second round games of BPL will be held in four venues at the city and it’s adjoining area.
The four venues are Bangabandhu National Stadium, Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium Tongi, Birshreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj and Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
Earlier, the BFF already sent a letter to the Ministry of Youth and Sports seeking permission to hold the league in the empty stadium maintaining heath protocol due to COVID-19 situation.
