Stocks end week in upbeat

DHAKA, April 22, 2021 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today finished week with winning streak buoyed by participation of enthusiastic investors in trade.

DSEX, the key index of the DSE, went up by 11.81 points to settle at 5,435.03. Two other indices also closed higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, rose 4.05 points to finish at 2,087.55 and the DSE Shariah Index advanced 3.90 points to close at 1,237.39.

Turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at Taka 8,832.93 million on the country’s prime bourse.

Of the issues traded, 143 advanced, 136 declined and 76 issues remained unchanged on the DSE floor.

Beximco topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Pharma, Lanka Bangla Finance, BD Finance and Robi.

United Insurance was the day’s best performer while Paramount was the worst loser.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also kept gaining with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)—up 12.34 points to close at 15,723.60 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX –rising 7.06 points to finish at 9,485.53.

Of the issues traded, 102 gained, 95 declined and 51 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city bourse traded 96.24 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 36.93 crore.
