RAJSHAHI, April 22, 2021 (BSS)- Twenty eight more beds will be installed in the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) at different hospitals in Rajshahi division soon aimed at providing better treatment to the patients suffering from Covid-19.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of Health, told BSS that the beds will be added to the hospitals within this month.

At present, there are 20 ICU beds in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), 13 at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZRMCH), eight at Muhammad Ali Hospital (MAH) and ten at private level TMSS Medical College Hospital in the division.

Dr Habibul Talukder added that the government has recently allocated ten more beds for the RMCH, ten for SZRMCH and eight others for MAH.

“We are trying to enhance two more beds for MAH,” he said, adding necessary preparations for setting up the new beds in the hospitals are underway.

Dr Talukder also said there is an urgent need of central oxygen supply in other hospitals for setting up ICU there because oxygen is very much important to cope with the present surging condition of Covid-19.

Works of setting central oxygen supply are progressing in some district hospitals at present. ICU beds will be supplied there on successful completion of the works, he hoped.
