Padma bank protection embankment to be completed in due time: Shamim
SHARIATPUR, April 22, 2021 (BSS) – Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shamim today said the construction of the embankment of right side bank protection of river Padma will end in scheduled time.
“Although the corona pandemic sweeping the country, the block construction of the embankment for protecting the right bank of the river is going on fast by maintaining necessary health guidelines,” he told the journalists after visiting the embankment construction work here.
Before arriving the rainy season, the deputy minister said, the blocks would be dropped into the erosion prone sites in the river Padma to check the river erosion.
Water Development Board Faridpur regional chief engineer Abdul Hekim, superintendent engineer Shahidul Alam, executive engineer of Shariatpur region SM Ahsan Habib and other project implementation officials, among others, were present during the visit.
As per the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Shamim said, all the necessary preparations have been taken by the Water Resources Ministry and the Water Development Board to complete the harvest of paddy in the haor region within a month.
Even the Awami League and its front organization leaders are also ready to provide cooperation to the farmers in this regard.
