1,68,133 get second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 21, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 1,68,133 citizens got the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with inoculation of 11,985 more people today with the second dose of the jab in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 11,985 citizens, who were inoculated with the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today, include 7,448 male and 4,537 female, of all eight districts in the division.

“The total of 1,68,133 second dose recipient citizens, including 1,12,602 male and 55,531 female of the division, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS today.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 1,68,133 citizens stands at 32,253 in Rangpur, 17,103 in Panchagarh, 23,691 in Nilphamari, 11,917 in Lalmonirhat, 15,301 in Kurigram, 16,554 in Thakurgaon, 35,946 in Dinajpur and 15,368 in Gaibandha.

“Meanwhile, a total of 1,770 citizens, including 991 male and 779 female, were vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today in the division,” Dr Ali said.

The total number of citizens who got the first dose of the vaccine now rose to 5,92,258, including 3,55.354 male and 2,36,904 female, with inoculation of more 1,770 people today in the division.

The district-wise break-up of the first dose recipient 5,92,258 citizens stands at 1,67,882 in Rangpur, 44,092 in Panchagarh, 76,019 in Nilphamari, 37,077 in Lalmonirhat, 45,854 in Kurigram, 48,733 in Thakurgaon, 1,10,412 in Dinajpur and 62,189 in Gaibandha.

Talking to BSS at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH)today, journalist Rezaul Karim Jibon and Labour Affairs Secretary of city Awami League Hasanuzzaman Nannu said they took the second dose of the jab there easily in a hassle free manner.

None of them felt any side effects.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said vaccination of registered citizens with the first and second doses of the jabs are continuing smoothly in Rangpur division

“Everyone must abide by the health directives and wear masks while remaining outside even after taking the first and second doses of the jabs to remain safe and contribute to containing the rapidly rising coronavirus infection in the division,” he added.
