1,56,416 get second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 20, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 1,56,416 citizens got the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with inoculation of 14,088 more people today with the jab as the second dose in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 14,088 citizens, who were inoculated with the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today, include 9,069 male and 5,019 female, of all eight districts in the division.

“The total of 1,56,416 second dose recipient citizens, including 1,05,154 male and 51,262 female of the division, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS today.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 1,56,416 citizens stands at 29,641 in Rangpur, 16,344 in Panchagarh, 22,371 in Nilphamari, 10,891 in Lalmonirhat, 14,415 in Kurigram, 15,063 in Thakurgaon, 33,131 in Dinajpur and 14,560 in Gaibandha.

“Meanwhile, a total of 1,481 citizens, including 895 male and 586 female, were vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today in the division,” Dr Ali said.

The total number of citizens who got the first dose of the vaccine now rose to 5,90,471, including 3,54,363 male and 2,36,108 female, with inoculation of more 1,481 people today in the division.

The district-wise break-up of the first dose recipient 5,90,471 citizens stands at 1,67,654 in Rangpur, 43,864 in Panchagarh, 75,679 in Nilphamari, 36,980 in Lalmonirhat, 45,759 in Kurigram, 48,634 in Thakurgaon, 1,09,932 in Dinajpur and 61,969 in Gaibandha.

Talking to BSS at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) vaccination centre today, a number of citizens said they took the second dose of the jab there easily in a hassle free manner.

They felt no side effects and thanked the RpMCH authorities for conducting the first and second dose of the vaccination programme simultaneously at the vaccination centre in an orderly way.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said vaccination of citizens with the first and second doses of the jab c continues smoothly in the division

He called upon all people to earnestly abide by the health directives and wear masks even after taking the first and second doses of the jab and contribute to containing the rapidly spreading of the coronavirus infection in the division.
