BRCS stands for low-income people affected by Covid-19 crisis
DHAKA, April 18, 2021 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BCRS) stands by the low-income floating people of the capital who are in food crisis due to coronavirus (Covid-19).
The society continues to distribute cooked food among the floating people in different areas of the capital, said a press release.
The Society has started this humanitarian activity from the first day of Ramadan on April 14.
Now, the activities are going on in different districts of the country including the capital.
The Red Crescent authorities said that all the activities are being carried out in compliance with the health rules.
Volunteers of the Red Crescent Society are delivering packets of cooked food to 300 helpless floating people of the capital every day.
In addition, 320 people from Chittagong Red Crescent Unit, 110 people from Barguna District Red Crescent Unit, 50 people from Munshiganj District Red Crescent Unit, 1300 people from Habiganj District Red Crescent Unit and from National Headquarters received goods in 3 days on April 14-16.
The Society also plans to continue this activity after Ramadan if the ongoing lockdown is prolonged.
Acting Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Prof. Dr. Md. Habib-e- Millat visited the kitchen at the National Headquarters and inquired about various issues.
Meanwhile, the health department of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has launched a psychosocial support cell to ensure mental health services in Corona.
During office hours, the service will be available from 9 am to 5 pm on Sundays to Thursdays.
However, this service can be availed from 9 am to 3 pm in the month of Ramadan.
